Affordable Housing

Affordable Housing apartments are for seniors who are able to live independently and want the security of living in a seniors’ apartment building.  North Ridge Place in St. Albert is our first facility under the Affordable Housing living option and our newest building.  It officially opened in August 2010 and offers one bedroom units for singles and two bedroom units for couples. More information about North Ridge Place Phase II will be provided as we near completion of construction (targeting 2017).

Eligibility for North Ridge Place Accommodation

Application forms are priority rated to determine suitability for accommodation and to determine placement on the waiting list.

  • Seniors (65+) must be suitable for independent living in a seniors setting.
  • First priority is given to seniors with total annual income below the current CNIT amounts.
  • Priority is given to seniors currently residing in our municipal areas, namely: Bon Accord, Gibbons, Legal, Morinville, Redwater, St. Albert, Sturgeon County, Lesser Slave Lake River No. 124, Westlock, and Clyde 
    • Below $42,000 Single Senior’s Income for one-bedroom unit
    • Below $53,000 Couple’s Income for two-bedroom unit


Rents for North Ridge Place Affordable Housing units are established according to a Government Agreement which states rent must be set at least 10% below Market Rent.   Current rates are:

  • 1 bedroom suite ~ $795.00 (includes water, sewer, waste and heat)
  • 2 bedroom suite ~ $945.00 (includes water, sewer, waste and heat)

Tenants are responsible for electricity and cable costs at lower contract rates.  Additional monthly fees are charged for the use of laundry facilities (available on each floor) and a parking stall.

All Homeland Housing facilities are non-smoking.  Sorry, no pets are allowed.
